STEINUNN AND GNÚSI
Maybe it´s easier for people on the other side of the planet. Icelanders have a hard time with it
As soon as you get it I will never forget it. It´s fun to say
Amaba Dama got started in 2011, with Gnúsi, Steinunn og Kolfinna
Did shows with playback. First show at Iceland Airwaves
The name came when we were driving in the countryside
I liked the word Amaba (eats your organs)
They tell US to pronounce it Ama-BAD-ama 😛
You don´t sell a lot of albums here. 100 is a lot here.
We don´t practice, we play
Sindri Mid Atlantic management (managing Kaleo)
We sold 2.000 copies. It would have been 10.000 before (through Record Records)
I know all the guys that run Icelandic Airwaves (Gnúsi)
We played at Faktory and then Gamla Bíó at Airwaves.
We released Hossa Hossa and few weeks later we had a contract with Record Records
Everybody knows everybody ( on being famous in Iceland)
Me and salka are in an all female reggae group. Parents come and thank us all the time
If you´re touring don´t go to an after party on the first day
We played at Laundromat and stood on tables
I used to live in Sweden and I used to play some local gigs there (Gnúsi)
They´re more open in Iceland
Why reggae? We just love it! It´s all about the love
I think that´s why reggae is so popular in Iceland. it´s a medicine for darkness depression.
Their summer hit Hossa Hossa
Not expect anything from the audience
Don´t forget the fun of it
Don´t take things for granted.
